Bellydance and other cultural dances reflect the traditional life of the people of a certain country or region. These dances have historical significance to their countries of origin. Although not originally designed for public performance, they have developed over time to be arranged and set for stage performances.
Open Level Bellydance: Tuesdays at 8:15pm
Bellydance Techniques: Saturdays at 10:00am
Level: All levels welcome; so while beginner students learn basic yet challenging movements, advanced students are given layering and isolations.
Intensity: Students perform low to high impact movements.
Description: Students tone and firm their muscles through isolations as they learn ancient middle-eastern rhythms. Styles taught include Turkish, Egyptian Raqs Sharqi, American cabaret, and more. Zills, veils, canes, and trays are sometimes introduced to these fun cultural classes.
What to wear: Belly dancing scarves are optional and helpful. Students wear clothing that allows the instructor to be able to see how muscles are being engaged. Barefoot is appropriate.
Registration closes 1 hour prior to class start time!
Our scheduling system allows you to cancel a class up to 6 hours before the class starts without being charged for that class. If you cancel within 6 hours of the class starting, you will be charged for the full class and a refund or credit will not be issued. We pay the instructors and block off your space in expectation that you are coming. Failure to show is not fair to the instructors, or to the person that may have wanted to take your place in the class.
Late arrivals will NOT be allowed into class and WILL be considered a late cancel. Please understand our policy is for good reason: safety (a proper warm up is mandatory), security (we lock our studio doors), and respect (cuts into other people’s time). Arrive 15 minutes before the start of your class. Please plan for traffic, parking and be on time to avoid loosing your class or being charged a late cancellation fee.
